4 Ways to Get Outside in Montreal This Winter

Get Outside in Montreal This Winter

Even though the warm weather is gone and the days are short, that’s no reason to stay inside and be bored! Montreal is a fascinating city with plenty to do year-round. Here are four ways you can get outside in Montreal this winter and take advantage of all the city has to offer while staying safe and social distancing.

Winter Walks

When you live at BRiX, you live in the heart of the city, which means you’re close to everything, including some great trails. Head to Mount-Royal park, just 10 minutes from BRiX, for a quiet place to take in the winter scenery. You can walk, hike, or even snowshoe on their trails. It’s the perfect place to take in a great view of the Olympic Stadium too. Another great option is Jeanne Mance park, which spans 14 hectares! It’s one of Montreal’s biggest parks, so you can get a good winter walk in and spend a sunny winter afternoon outdoors.

Sledding

Walking uphill is sure to help get your heart pumping! But you won’t just get physical health benefits from sledding; you’ll also improve your mental health! Research shows that spending time outdoors (even in winter) lowers stress levels, depression, and anxiety. So bring back your inner child and hit the hills this season. BRiX is located close to several great hills open for sledding this winter, including Parc Angrignon and Parc Ignace-Bourget, which are both 15-minutes away.

Skating

Did you know Montreal has over 200 indoor and outdoor skating rinks? It’s no wonder this city loves hockey! If you’re looking to get your skate on this winter, you’re in luck! BRiX is also just 15 minutes away from Parc Jean-Drapeau, an outdoor skating rink following government guidelines by allowing a maximum of 25 people on the rink at a time.

Play at Park Jean-Drapeau

Parc Jean Drapeau has so much more than just skating! Although it won’t hold its annual Fête des Neiges this year due to the pandemic, they aren’t letting that stop all of the winter fun! The city says Parc Jean-Drapeau will offer a unique program this year that starts on December 19. You can take advantage of several free activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and an outdoor exhibition presented by the Biosphère! There are even fatbike trails and free sledding.

Live at BRiX

Experience the magic of Montreal’s winter from the heart of downtown! BRiX has a few cozy, bright, and contemporary apartments left to rent. Rent includes all appliances (even a washer and dryer in every unit), WI-FI and access to 20,000 square feet of amenities. We have the largest residential gym in the city, and you can book a time to use it privately to stay safe during the pandemic. So what are you waiting for? Visit brixmtl.com and book your tour today!
